OpenAI Partners with Google Cloud to Bring GPT-6 Models and Codex to Model Garden
OpenAI brings GPT-6 Astra, Sol, Luna, and Codex to Google Cloud Model Garden, making Google Cloud the only hyperscaler hosting OpenAI, Claude, and Gemini.
In a landmark industry shift, OpenAI and Google Cloud have partnered to bring OpenAIs frontier AI models—including GPT-6 Astra, Sol, Luna, and Codex agentic workflows—into Google Clouds Model Garden. The agreement makes Google Cloud the only hyperscaler offering all three leading closed AI families—OpenAI, Anthropics Claude, and Gemini—on a single enterprise platform.
OpenAI Models Join Google Cloud Model Garden
On October 21, 2026, OpenAI and Google Cloud announced a comprehensive commercial agreement to offer OpenAIs flagship models directly to Google Cloud customers. The private preview begins immediately in Google Clouds Model Garden with GPT-6 Astra, GPT-6.1 Sol, and GPT-6 Luna, alongside the Codex agentic coding engine. General enterprise availability will follow in the coming weeks, allowing developers to invoke OpenAI endpoints natively on dedicated Google Cloud infrastructure while drawing down existing committed cloud spending.
The Multi-Model Cloud Reality: Three AI Giants on One Shelf
The partnership establishes Google Cloud as the sole hyperscale platform hosting the industrys top three competing closed-source AI ecosystems simultaneously: OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), and Googles in-house Gemini 4 Argon. OpenAIs president Greg Brockman described the move as meeting developers where they already build, reflecting the end of single-cloud exclusivity after AWS launched OpenAI models in April. Microsoft remains OpenAIs primary infrastructure partner, but OpenAIs distribution now spans all three major US hyperscalers.
Enterprise Governance, Data Perimeters, and Agentic Tooling
Under the partnership terms, all customer prompts and completions remain strictly isolated within enterprise data perimeters and will never be used to train Google or OpenAI models. Enterprises will receive unified monthly billing via Google Cloud Marketplace. Looking ahead, Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian confirmed that OpenAI models and Codex will integrate directly into Google Antigravity developer environments and the Gemini Agent workflow engine, giving organizations seamless orchestration across competing frontier models for specialized tasks.
